THE SKIING

The guaranteed snow at 3000m and spectacular scenery of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier are the big attractions of Kaprun, accessed by the high-speed 24-person 'Gletscherjet' gondola.

Also covered on the 'Europa Sport Region' lift pass are two further areas directly beside Kaprun village - the Lechnerberg and Maiskogel slopes - as well as nearby Zell am See. There is thus plenty of variety for all grades of skier, both above and below the tree-line. The ski-bus is also free with your lift-pass, and the glacier in one direction and Zell am See in the other are each approximately 10 -15 minutes' ride.

Our Esprit Ski Escort will be available for at least 2 days of the week to ski with you and introduce you to the area.

FAMILIES
Our partner ski-school has a children's ski-play area at the foot of the Lechnerberg slopes just behind the village centre, making this an ideal place to start. Children also find the glacier very entertaining, with gentle slopes just outside the Alpin Centre - the base point of the glacier's huge snow-bowl, shown in our main photo to the left.

BEGINNERS
Good quality snow makes learning so much easier, and this is where Kaprun excels. There are plenty of wide open, smoothly groomed blue runs on which to make your first turns, and the ski-school has an excellent reputation for helping first-timers make swift progress.

INTERMEDIATES
Between them, Kaprun and Zell am See offer everything from fast, wide, cruising blues - best of all on the glacier - to fun tree-lined reds. This is also a wonderful resort for those who love to enjoy the scenery en route, whether from 3000m up on the glacier, or the 'View of 200 Peaks' from the top of Zell am See.

ADVANCED
Skiers will love the superb glacier bowl on the Kitzsteinhorn, with its wonderful powder and wide open pistes. There are plenty of moguls and seven entertaining black runs across the Europa Sport Region ski area to challenge more adventurous skiers.

POWDER POTENTIAL
Between November and April, the five-year average snowfall on the Kitzsteinhorn is a staggering 11 metres! As a result, there are incredible powder days to be enjoyed on a regular basis right throughout the season, all amongst spectacularly beautiful scenery.

SNOWBOARDING
All the features noted above will please boarders too, such as guaranteed snow, frequent powder, great cruising runs and plenty of variety. In addition, both the Kitzsteinhorn and Zell am See have their own half-pipes and fun-parks for boarders to enjoy.
